What would be a good flooring type for the kitchen/familyroom?

i would do tile in the kitchen..wood and any kind of wood in a kitchen is just a bad idea because of the water and potential damage that could result...i would separate them and we actually saw a house this year when we were looking for our house...that had cherry wood in the living room and dining room and tile in the kitchen...it was one huge open floor plan..so i think it could be done..split it down the middle...you can always paint wood paneling...and if you dont want any of the four things you have listed..there really isnt anything else to pick from unless you want concrete
