Hamster Hygiene Conframtion !?

I am quite experienced with hamsters i just need a bit of confirmation, how often should i clean out my hamster, i have always done it once a week every saturday for me and if it was ill or smelt i did it maybe twice, i have a well ventilated cage i just wanted to know?
